"I hope your children do not end up like you" #disagree

This man whom I met in the hotel lobby told me: “The most important thing is that your children do not end up like you are“. I had just told him I was a single parent. While I do not wish that my children become a single parent with all the struggles it entails, I disagree. I am proud of myself because I overcame many obstacles. My children will also have to climb their own mountains, as John Butler says in the magnificent children book “Pi-Shu the little panda“.
